Our Story
I initially started using cannabis to relieve my stress and insomnia during my days as an undergraduate student. While smoking cannabis helped, I wanted a healthier method of consumption.
Having been familiar with majoun, the dried fruit and nut-based confection consumed in Morocco, I began experimenting with my own recipes at home. Majoun became a regular creation in my kitchen, and it wasn’t long before friends and family began requesting that I make it for them.
I dove into the history and learned of the relatively unknown origin story of these delicious confections and was intrigued to know that it has been consumed throughout the Islamic world for over a thousand years.
With the legalization of cannabis edibles in 2019 in Canada, edibles were finally available for consumers to enjoy without fear or suspicion. But what was available were mostly in the form of candy and chocolate, with refined ingredients and added sugar, so I continued to produce majoun at home.
In 2021, I finally decided to take the leap and launch Majoun™ to share the rich and fascinating history of the original edible and to make these delectable cannabis confections available to the modern cannabis consumer to experience and enjoy.
